Primary School Network: Assessment
The NCCA worked on assessment with teachers as part of the Primary School Network.
We developed materials that will support teachers in
- using a range of assessment methods
- making judgements about children's progress in learning
- giving feedback to children about their learning.
The focus of the work of the work was on supporting the teachers in their use of Assessment for Learning (AfL).

The multi-media materials support teacher and learner judgement. The materials include classroom video footage and samples of children’s work with teacher commentary.
Although it is not a direct output from the Primary School Network, the support materials also include a small number of videos showing how a group of Irish primary teachers used AfL techniques to support children's literacy development in second class. These videos are part of the outcomes of the GOALL (Guiding Our Assessment for Literacy Learning) research initiative undertaken by St. Patrick's College.
