The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment is currently drafting its Strategic Plan for the period 2019-2021. NCCA is a statutory body whose role is to advise the Minister for Education and Skills on curriculum and assessment for early childhood education and in primary and post-primary schools.
In fulfilling this advisory role, it consults widely with the partners in education. It engages in research, including working with early childhood settings and schools. It takes account of international developments and practice. In its work of reviewing and developing curricula, it pays due attention to the promotion of high standards of quality, equity and inclusion, sound educational practice and relevance to national social, cultural and economic objectives.
