  • Consultation Materials for Schools

Schools and preschools might be interested in reviewing and feeding back, in more detail, on one or more of the following aspects of the Draft Primary Curriculum Framework:

    1. The principles of teaching and learning
    2. Key competencies
    3. Proposed new time allocations - weekly, monthly and flexible times
    4. Assessment
    5. A more integrated approach to teaching and learning in the junior classes through broad curriculum areas
    6. Transitions, continuity and progression between preschool, primary and post-primary schools.

A short video presentation gives an overview of each of these aspects and a set of guiding questions invites you to consider the proposals in the context of your school/preschool.

The above materials will be published in the coming weeks.

  • Consultation with Children

An important part of the consultation will be engaging with children to gather their views, in appropriate ways, on their experiences of learning and teaching through which the curriculum is enacted.

  • Consultative Seminar

A consultative seminar will take place in Croke Park on September 29th 2020. More details will follow.

  • Bilaterals

During the consultation, a series of bilateral meetings are planned between the NCCA and education stakeholders to discuss and provide feedback on the key proposals for change in the Draft Primary Curriculum Framework.
