Assessment supports children’s progression towards the curriculum’s vision. It is a collaborative process involving children and teachers and, at times, parents and other stakeholders, as they gather, record, interpret, use, and report information about a child’s progress. Assessment is integral to high-quality teaching and learning across the curriculum and goes far beyond activities that contribute to external accountability and national monitoring (see pages 23-26).
