Workshop: Transitions, continuity and progression in children’s learning between preschool, primary and post-primary schools
Children come to primary school with a set of experiences shaped by their family and community and, increasingly, by their time in preschool. From and through these experiences, they develop knowledge, skills, concepts, dispositions, attitudes and values. The curriculum recognises this prior learning and the importance of building on it as children move into primary school and then onto post-primary school (see page 19).
