Consultations Open For 7 Leaving Certificate Subjects In Tranche Two

In Tranche 2 of the subject reviews, seven Leaving Certificate subjects have been redeveloped and consultations are now open. Consultations on the draft specifications for seven Leaving Certificate subjects are now open.

When the consultations have closed, the Development Group for each of the seven subjects will reconvene in April 2025. The groups will consider the feedback from the various consultations and will then finalise the subject specifications. Upon completion of the groups’ work, the specifications will be presented to the Board for Senior Cycle and then to the Council for approval after which they will be sent to the Minister.

Following on from the introduction of Tranche 1 subjects in September 2025, all of the redeveloped subject specifications in Tranche 2 will be introduced in schools commencing in September 2026.

Information on the draft specifications and the consultations on the seven Tranche 2 subjects can be found here on the NCCA website. Consultations will close on 25th April (Geography, Accounting, LCVP and PE) and 2nd May (English, Construction Studies and Engineering) and all those interested are encouraged to take part.
