PLC / CTB Toolkit: Updated Suite Of Supports

The Primary Language Toolkit includes Video Examples of Children's Language Learning, the Progression Continua and Support Materials outlining key pedagogical approaches.

Agus Seachtain na Gaeilge ag teannadh linn, you may wish to have a look the Video Examples that have recently been added. These include examples relating to learning and teaching English and Gaeilge from a variety of school contexts. Some of the topics and approaches showcased include:

  • Amharclann an Léitheora (Reader’s Theatre)
  • Content and Language Integrated Teaching (CLIL)
  • An Cur Chuige Cumarsáideach (The Communicative Approach)
  • Cur Chuige Comhtháite agus Feasacht Teanga (Integration and Language Awareness)
  • Debates
  • Saibhreas Teanga agus Gramadach i gComhthéacs (Gaeltacht)
  • Struchtúr Abairte (Scoil lán-Ghaeilge)
  • Gníomhaíochtaí Luathléitheoireachta agus Cur Chuige Spraíúil  (Gaeltacht).

New Support Materials have been added, including practical ideas for Múineadh na Gaeilge, such as Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and Supporting Engagement in Reading in Irish. There’s also a new Support Material on using Picture Books, showing how they can support children's language, literacy, and knowledge development.

A friendly reminder that the Progression Continua describe Learning Outcomes in more detail, making them a helpful tool for planning activities and experiences that support children’s language development.

The layout of the Toolkit has been redesigned to help make it easier to navigate and to explore both new and existing supports. Bain triail as!
