School Supports For TY Programme Statement
In collaboration with TY Coordinators and other relevant experts, NCCA has designed the following supports to help schools audit their TY programmes and develop a TY curriculum in line with the Programme Statement:
Auditing and renewing your TY curriculum
These resources, supplemented by exemplars and informed by school experiences, were designed in collaboration with a team of TY Coordinators.
Guidance for the Portfolio Development component
This resource provides practical information on developing and using student portfolios. The resource includes suggested classroom activities as well as prompts which teachers might find useful as they support student work on the portfolios.
Designing a micro-module
A micro-module is a concentrated, flexible learning experience that can be a standalone or integrated component of a school’s TY programme. NCCA has published a template and guidance for schools and organisations that wish to develop their own micro-module.
NCCA-developed micro-modules
NCCA is developing micro-modules that can be included in a school’s TY programme. These include a 10-hour micro-module for sustainable, student-led actions as part of Civic and Community Engagement. Further micro-modules will be published on curriculumonline.ie as they are developed.
Resources for TY SPHE
To support the teaching and learning of SPHE in TY, supports are now available on curriculumonline.ie
TY Modular components
NCCA has published modular components to enhance TY programmes including the initial Vocational Education and Training (iVET) module to support schools in developing links with FET providers. The Empowering Mathematics Literacy Leaders module is also available.
