New time allocations: weekly, monthly and flexible times
Workshop: New time allocations: weekly, monthly and flexible times
The Draft Primary Curriculum Framework proposes time allocations that are intended to assist teachers, school leaders and schools in their work with the redeveloped curriculum. The proposed time allocations include continuing with weekly allocations for Language and Mathematics and introducing a weekly allocation for Wellbeing. The remaining curriculum areas would have a monthly (4 weeks) allocation. Discretionary time would be reinstated as ‘Flexible time’ – with some guidance – which each school could use in response to its own priorities. Drawing on all of this, the draft framework sets out three options for consideration and discussion (see Tables 4-6, pages 15-18).
