Updated Junior Cycle SPHE curriculum

Arising from the 2018-19 review of Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) in primary and post-primary schools, the need to update the curriculum was identified as a key priority.

This updating work began with Junior Cycle SPHE. The 2023 updated Junior Cycle SPHE course provides 100 hours of learning (an increase from 70 hours) over the three years of junior cycle. Students starting first year in September 2023 will be studying the updated (2023) specification.
