Leaving Certificate Computer Science – Update
The NCCA report on the early review of Leaving Certificate Computer Science (LCCS), is now published. LCCS was introduced in 2018 on a phased basis. The review was carried out in the latter half of 2022. We visited schools, heard from students who completed the course and spoke with stakeholders who were directly involved in the introduction and development of the curriculum.
The review found that the aims and objectives of LCCS are being achieved, while the teaching, learning, professional support and assessment practices are highly aligned. We also gained valuable insights to inform adjustments to the specification in order to build on and improve the experience of LCCS for students and teachers.
The report can be found here on our website and the updated specification can be found at Computer Science (curriculumonline.ie).
