Development will commence shortly on a new specification for Leaving Certificate Drama, Film and Theatre Studies.

Interested in curriculum development?

NCCA is looking for two people to work as members of the new Leaving Certificate Drama, Theatre and Film Studies Development Group. Beginning in September 2022 this new group will play a key role in developing a new specification for Leaving Certificate Drama, Theatre and Film Studies

Context

NCCA advises the Minister for Education on curriculum and assessment for early childhood education, for primary and post-primary schools. As part of the broader redevelopment of Senior Cycle it is envisaged that a new specification for Drama, Theatre and Film Studies will be introduced in network schools from September 2024. The Drama, Theatre and Film Studies Development Group will have a key role in this work. The Group will include nominees of the education partners, the Department of Education and other key education agencies. To avail of further expertise, the NCCA is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who would like to contribute to work on the new Drama, Theatre and Film Studies specification.

Specialist knowledge and expertise

Interested individuals might offer one or more of the following:

  • experience of innovative classroom practice in Drama or Theatre or Film Studies education
  • involvement in research in Drama or Theatre or Film Studies education
  • experience of working with learning outcomes
  • knowledge of assessment in Drama or Theatre or Film Studies especially of practical work or process skills.

If you are a teacher or researcher and particularly if you are in the early stages of your career or if you work outside the formal education sector, the Council is particularly interested in hearing from you.

The Council plans to have its work on the specification completed by the end of 2023. Beginning in September 2022 the Development Group will support this work through a series of day-long meetings.
