Review of Transition Year Programmes – Guidelines for Schools

We are reviewing and updating the Transition Year Programmes - Guidelines for Schools, which was published by the Department of Education in 1994. Significant developments have taken place in the interim period and schools have continued to evolve their TY Programme to meet the needs of their students. We are conducting an audit to identify the most effective aspects of these Transition Year programmes. 

Invitation to Schools

We are inviting expressions of interest from schools to participate in a school-based component of the audit. All principals have been mailed information regarding how to apply to be a part of the audit. The deadline for online expression of interest is 3pm on the 10th of May 2022. It is envisaged that the school visit will take place in September 2022. 

The school-based component will be designed to gain insights into the following areas:

• programme components that make up the school’s TY programme
• programme planning and evaluation
• personal development and social awareness of students
• teaching, learning, assessment, and reporting arrangements.
